Miami Valley Carriage
Association (MVCA) is made up of driving and
carriage enthusiasts from all
over mid-western Ohio. We
have a variety of members from
those just beginning, all the
way up to professional carriage
company operators. We hold
monthly drives and all levels of
experience are welcome to
participate!
Our Purpose and Focus
The club's focus is on education of anyone
interested in driving equines -- from miniature to
draft with vehicles ranging from 2-wheeled carts to
large 30 passenger vehicles and single horse hitches
to teams. Members range in experience from "I
have never been behind a horse to drive" to
members that have driven multiple team hitches. Whether your interest is in
driving horses, mules or donkeys (we now have
driving sheep in the club!) or collecting
carriages, there is a place for you in our club.
Events
We have monthly drives, along
with a pot-luck dinner, usually
at a member's farm or boarding
stable. We also make use
of horse-friendly parks, such as
Twin Towers Park in Greene
County and Carriage Hill Farm in
Montgomery County. Last
spring we held a training clinic
to help advance some of our less
experienced members (or their
horse). Many of our
members participate in parades
throughout the year, such as the
Delaware All Horse Parade and
the Lebanon Christmas Carriage
Parade. We also have
members who participate in the
Carriage Roundup held at the
Kentucky Horse Park each year. We try to make an
annual shopping trip to Holmes
County, and we try to plan some
other field trips to events or
places of interest that have to
do with carriages or driving.
